Under normal conditions, the product is not dangerous.
When applied to fire there is a risk of burn.
Inhalation of bituminous vapours may cause irritation to respiratory system.

Skin burns: Treat the affected area with plenty of cold water. When cold, do not try to remove bitumen from the skin, as it forms a sterile protective layer. Normally, the bitumen would separate itself from the skin after some days. Use only medically approved solvents (medicinal liquid paraffin) to remove bitumen from skin.

Eye contact: Rinse with clean water for at least 10 minutes, keeping eyes opened. Consult an ophthalmologist.

Vapour inhalation: Remove an injured person to fresh air and seek medical attention.

Personal protection: Not required for handling and transport.
When necessary to apply to fire, appropriate measures must be taken: fire gloves, protective shoes and cloths.

Storage conditions: See label. Store under cover.

Respiratory protection: It is advisable to have good ventilation during its use.

Eye protection: It is advisable to use protective glasses.

Hand and skin protection: It is advisable to use heat resistant gloves and appropriate cloths.

Physical state: Laminar solid.

Colour: grey (black).

Characteristics of bituminous mastic:
softening point: >80ºC
penetration at 25ºC: 30-80 dmm
insoluble in water
partially soluble in organic solvent
flash point: >240ºC

Stability: Stable at room temperature.

Conditions to avoid: Extreme temperatures. Temperatures over 80ºC modify the material and speed up its degradation.

Persistence and degradability: Components of the product do not degrade significantly.

Environment effects / ecotoxicity: The product is not toxic to the environment. It is not harmful for plants or aquatic environment.

Commercialised as rolled sheets and transported loose or grouped in pallets. Stable at room temperature and during transport.

These products do not contain recycled raw materials.

Even though, in different countries, like Germany, there is an experience in recycling wastes of these products. In Spain this issue has not been developed yet.
